The ministry of lector is essential in our liturgical celebrations. The Second Vatican Council teaches that “the Church has always venerated the divine Scriptures just as she venerates the body of the Lord, since, especially in the sacred liturgy, she unceasingly receives and offers to the faithful the bread of life from the table both of God's word and of Christ's body”(Dei Verbum, No. 21)
In order to be a lector, a person needs to
- be a practicing Catholic and live according to the teachings of the Lord and of the Church,
- be trained so as to be able to proclaim the word clearly and effectively.

The parish offers periodical practical training for new lectors led by Deacon Cristino Ynfante and Juan Miguel Veras. In addition, the parish offers ongoing training for all lectors. Please see below the formation program for this time:
