Altar Servers

St. Mary of the Assumption Parish offers a variety of service opportunities for kids and young people to serve as an altar server or a Mass helper.

The altar server ministry at Saint Mary of the Assumption Parish provides the opportunity to serve the Lord on His altar.  An altar server attends to supporting tasks at the altar such as fetching and carrying, ringing the altar bell and so on. Training classes are conducted periodically to cover the servers’ duties before, during and after Mass and to provide the necessary understanding and reinforcement of the many altar server responsibilities during the Mass.

Traditionally, the ministry of the altar server was one of the ways in which the Church would foster a vocation to the priesthood. That is why we encourage boys to participate. We encourage the girls to be part of the St. Faustina Mass Helper, a most important ministry of welcoming and hospitality in our parish.
